About the Event

Success in this profession depends very much on whether you have the right skills and the right mindset. So does credibility which means that you will be required to hold the right qualifications which comprises the ability to provide close protection, assess and manage risk, manage potential conflict situations, as well as deliver enhanced medical assistance if required. ​

The occupational requirements defined by the Professional Bodyguard Association have been devised based on best practice; each comprising a number of performance criteria which an individual should be able to demonstrate proficiency in to be considered competent in the sector.

TO ACHIEVE RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) FOR THIS QUALIFICATION YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO:

Determine potential threats, vulnerabilities and the level of risk to the Principal's security and safety.

Assess and take account of what protection requirements are needed to protect the Principal and so be able to identify the necessary resources and information required.

Deal with information and be able to communicate with the relevant persons involved with the safety and security of the Principal.

Carry out effective searches of premises, people and vehicles and be able to identify devices that could pose a threat or risk to your Principal.

Maintain personal and operational security using anti-surveillance techniques and maintaining situational awareness allowing you to monitor and minimise patterns and habits to avoid predictability and the opportunity for attack on self or others.

Maintain effective communications with the Principal and others whilst providing foot escort and respond to incidents affecting the safety or security of your Principal.

Maintain the safety and security of the Principal(s) whilst in transit.

Recognise potential conflict and respond in a professional and non-aggressive manner where preferred using appropriate physical intervention skills to protect the Principal(s) from threat or attack on the person.
